About us

We at True North Trades CIC have a passion for heritage crafts and a drive to share that passion with as many people in our community as we can!

Our goal is to introduce people from a range of backgrounds to the world of hand made. Our passion is inspiring others to take up crafts and hobbies that would usually be unattainable.

We are proud to announce we have a new home in Morrison Industrial Estate, A693, Annfield Plain, Stanley DH9 7XW.

As a result we can now offer a wide range of opportunities to play with wood and fire!

WARM!!! Send help… send Guinness… A sneaky look at the progress of the main workshop and reception/shop 😮 We really do get the best clients! Final day finishing up and we’re gifted a wee something just because. Well guys and gals… something amazing is coming! It’s been a very long time in the making and now we have some hard work ahead of us. Couple of snaps from today's mens group at @jackdrumarts creating some lucky fish from old horse shoes A little throwback to one of my creations from years ago. I actually came up with this design whilst at school (@tanfield_school) and years later finally had the chance to make it. A considerable amount of flooring completed for a great client. Floors levelled, door casings straightened and repaired, new hardware and doors hung, floorboards repaired, thresholds throughout and toilet with basin re-installed. I do love a play and experiment in the workshop but I also make a hell of a mess!! It’s giving mad scientist vibes in here right now 🤯 🔥 Make Your Wedding Unforgettable 🔥

Blacksmith Courses/Workshops

We offer an array of blacksmithing courses from artistic metalworking to knife making and everything in between! We will be advertising our set courses but we also offer the opportunity for private classes, workshop space rental for those who want to get more involved and experience days. Blacksmith Commission Work

We also offer a wide range of blacksmithing services such as bespoke gates, fences and many weird and wonderful items of interest. If you have an idea for something you would like to create why not get in touch!

Cabinet Maker

We have an extremely talented cabinet maker/furniture maker on our team who loves creating bespoke items for people. We offer a range of services in this department from design to finish as well as repairs and refurbishments. If you have an idea for a custom build or your furniture needs some TLC we have you covered.

We will very shortly be opening our doors to our community workshop where we will be able to offer courses in woodworking, joinery and lathe work.

Memberships will be available for those who would like a place to regularly practice their craft. If you would like to register your interest fill in the form below!
